  • Field investigations: determination of physical, chemical and biological characteristics of surface water and groundwater; measurements aimed at determining pollutant diffusion and dispersion in rivers and other receiving waters; determination of self-purification characteristics of watercourses and aquifers; identification of point and diffuse sources of pollution; efficiency testing of wastewater treatment plants...
  • Development of methods, design, engineering and application of cutting-edge equipment for field measurements and monitoring related to groundwater issues, and design, construction supervision and operational monitoring of components of special hydraulic facilities;
  • Hydrodynamic research of groundwater flow, using analog and mathematical models, and forecasting of groundwater regimes and groundwater quality under natural conditions and under conditions affected by various abstraction programs or technical measures for groundwater regime control;
  • Studies of groundwater source problems from a quality and quantity perspective, under natural and artificial recharge conditions, and of problems related to the transformation of groundwater quality, hydraulics of water abstraction systems, and sanitary protection;
  • Testing of the chemical composition of water for municipal and industrial water supplies, as well as wastewater and groundwater;
  • Studies of water consumption, consumers, water sources, water treatment, water distribution and storage, and wastewater discharge and evacuation; project design documents for wastewater collection, evacuation and treatment; and multi-disciplinary studies of receiving waters aimed at protection from pollution;
  • Studies of water pollution components of water management strategies and urban and spatial planning documents; studies of water quality aimed at designing water protection measures; proposals of water and environmental pollution protection measures; studies of eutrophication of river reservoirs and lakes; impact assessments of wastewater discharges into rivers; preparation of project design documents and capital project programs for water sources, water supply systems, wastewater disposal systems, water protection, and environmental protection;
  • Theoretical and experimental research, applying mathematical and physical models, of complex processes related to water protection and purification treatment of raw water and treatment of polluted water;
  • Project implementation and construction supervision;
  • Monitoring and certification of water supply, wastewater disposal, and water protection systems;
  • Experimental and theoretical studies of seepage through, around and under hydraulic facilities and of seepage stability of structures; and proposal of drainage solutions for the protection of structures and hydraulic facilities;
  • Development, installation and implementation of information systems within the scope of the Department;
  • Reviews of technical documentation within the scope of the Department;
  • Surface water and groundwater quality management, water supply and wastewater disposal system management, and addressing of other water management issues pertaining to water supply and disposal of wastewater and stormwater;
